Ms. Patricia E. Lyda
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!
This is my 12th year with Sharyland ISD and 11th year at BL Gray Jr.High. I am looking forward to another great year with all students, parents, faculty, and staff. I am certified as a Generalist 4-8, and I have been teaching 7th grade ELA for the past ten years. In addition, I am English as a Second Language (ESL) certified and trained in Pre-AP, Gifted and Talented instruction, Differentiated instruction, and Rigor and Relevance.
My home is McAllen, Texas, and I graduated from UTPA, Edinburg, Texas with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. Following graduation, I left the Rio Grande Valley to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Institutional and State Jail Divisions in Huntsville, Texas, where I remained for many years. In 2004, I returned to McAllen, Texas and began an Alternative Certification Program to become a teacher. In 2008, I had the priviledge to begin employment with Sharyland ISD as a paraprofessional, and in 2009, I was hired as a 7th and 8th grade teacher at BL Gray Junior High.
Each year at BL Gray has been a blessing, and I continue to grow in knowledge and experience aided by the amazing students, parents, faculty and staff at our campus. It is an honor to be a part of this outstanding school district and an honor to teach students at our "Texas Schools to Watch" campus. I am ready for another spectacular school year, and I look forward to meeting all my new 7th graders!
Passion with a Purpose!
