Binder or notebook, pencils, pen, graph paper, sharpener, ruler, graphing calculator, batteries.
Textbook: Pearson TEXAS Algebra 1
Calculators: TI-83, TI-83 Plus, TI-84, or TI-84 Plus is recommended for your course work.
Course:
AlgebraI is the foundation for advanced mathematics. The topics that will becovered include patterns, functions, simplifying expressions, solvingequations, proportional relationships, graphing linear equations,writing linear equations, rate of change (slope), linear functions,systems of equations, inequalities, linear inequalities, polynomials,quadratic functions, exponential functions, and inverse relationships.These topics will be covered through a variety of methods with emphasison exploration activities and the use of technology.
Course Grades:
60% Major assignment - Summative (tests, projects…)
40% Minor assignment - Formative (class work, homework, quiz…)
Tests
At least 4 tests will be given each six weeks. In addition, any projects assigned will count as a test grade within the six weeks.
Quizzes
Quizzescan be given and will cover previously learned material similar tohomework. At times, quizzes will be given using previous skills learned.
Daily Work/ Homework
Homework and Daily Work will be assigned daily. No unexcused late work will be accepted.
